NOTHING LASTS FOREVER (Peter Udell / Gary Geld (m & l) ) As sung by Margaret Whiting 1966 < The Wheel Of Hurt > Now you're down and broken hearted You have lost your lucky star You are sure you have no future You don't know how wrong you are. Nothing lasts forever baby Even pain and misery All your tears will turn to laughter Baby just you wait and see. Nothing lasts forever...wait and see. Now you've lost your only lover Now your dreams are torn in two You are sure you'll live in darkness But the sun's gonna shine for you. Nothing lasts forever baby Even pain and misery All your tears will turn to laughter Baby just you wait and see. Nothing lasts forever...wait and see. Now you've got an inch to go If you still be a mile Now the bidder's calling you Capture this to a smile Now what seemed eternity Was the sun in a while. Nothing lasts forever baby Even pain and misery All your tears will turn to laughter Baby just you wait and see. Nothing lasts forever...wait and see. Wait and see. Wait and see. Wait and see. Nothing lasts forever baby Even pain and misery All your tears will turn to laughter Baby just you wait and see. Nothing lasts forever baby Even pain and misery All your tears will turn to laughter (fade) NOTES: Margaret Whiting, daughter of songwriter Richard Whiting, was a 1940s/50s/60s pop, jazz, C & W singer and TV personality. She was born in Detroit USA. Her voice was wonderfully mellow, particularly in the lower registers, and an attraction for many. She had a number of hit recordings and continued to entertain until the 1990s. She was known by her adoring fans as the voice of MOONLIGHT IN VERMONT, the work of Blackburn/Suessdorf which her mentor, Johnny Mercer first suggested she record. She first sang for Mercer when she was seven years old and he eventually signed her as one of his first recording artists in the early 1940s. This song ultimately became a huge hit and over the years, a picturesque all time standard. The composition was also released as the 'A' side of a 7 inch single in 1966. The 'B' side was THE WHEEL OF HURT (Transcribed by David Story May 2014)
