When I was born, I gave the Doc
What was, to put it mild, a very nasty shock
When I was ready to be fed 
I didn't scream and go all red

When I was just a lad of three
MyDaddy said, "Now, Son, what would you like to be?"
I said, "Iin twenty years or more
I'd like to be aged twenty-four"
I only arsked, I only arsked

I love asking questions
I never get upset
But oh dear, dear, you ought to 'ear
The stupid answers I get

When I was five, I asked me Mum
"Oh, won't you tell me please, from where did baby come"
"You come from Heaven, don't you know"
I said, I thought I come from Bow"
I only arsked, I only arsked

'Ere, that's nice, better than porridge, that
But d'you think we might have it like a little bit more pianissimo
Well, it was only an enquiry

You know what I like to hear
A nice pizzicato passage on the fiddles
With just a touch of' 'arpsichord
See, you can do it if you try

And children ask me for advice, to them I'll say
Whenever something puzzles you
